| EU continues war against Google
»news.yahoo.com/s/nf/20100226/tc_nf/71891
The EU ordered Google to take down images it captures for its Street View service after six months. Google Street View is a feature of Google Maps and Google Earth. Currently, Google holds Street View images for a year.
Some experts have suggested that Europe is more concerned about privacy than the U.S. But Enderle doesn't believe that's the case. The larger reason why the EU may be meddling in Street View retention policies is because people got scared, he said. »www.csmonitor.com/World/Global-N···nviction
Italy's Google conviction of three executives for not blocking a child-bullying video is part of a larger anti-Google wave riding across Europe. European courts and agencies are trying to slow down the expanding Google juggernaut, and are perhaps looking for ways to share or regulate some of the bounty. Google is also facing anti-trust probes into search algorithms that may favor Google ad-friendly sites. While some complaints may be legitimate, this smells more and more like economic warfare by the EU against US based companies. 1st it was Microsoft; and then Intel; and now Google. I never bought in to the image of Google as "Doing no Evil", but the EU isn't pursuing fair regulation, it is trying to give EU companies an edge over US companies thru constant harassment.

Every kids needs a Uranium Playset.
said by Oak Ridge Associated Universities :The set came with four types of uranium ore, a beta-alpha source (Pb-210), a pure beta source (Ru-106), a gamma source (Zn-65?), a spinthariscope, a cloud chamber with its own short-lived alpha source (Po-210), an electroscope, a geiger counter, a manual, a comic book (Dagwood Splits the Atom) and a government manual "Prospecting for Uranium." I think I know why todays kids are such underachievers.

| Re: How about some humor now....lol I have a couple of questions, they aren't to beat you up. I'm endlessly facinated at people's reactions about adult-oriented media. said by tvtek :Well most are adults that visit this site Of course. At what adult/child percentage would you have been inspired to post a NSFW warning? Why would smaller numbers of youth not rate that same consideration? (A lot of us adults have children in the room, it would be wearying to have to scrutinize every piece of video in the WOT, before enjoying it.)
said by tvtek : and so I figure let them make their own decision as to whom should be watching. Wouldn't an informed decision better than an uninformed one?
said by tvtek :Its a free country they will decide for themselves. That one's the hook for me. I've often seen an anti-illegalization response from people who are challenged about adult material on any ground. Someone may say "Hey, that's not so good." and the would be an automatic "It's not illegal." and/or "Who are you to tell me that I can't..." when no such thing was suggested. So where does the automatic law-response come from?
(Obviously your response was quite gentle. It had some of the same components I've often witnessed, thus my questions.)
Thanks for any answers.

2 edits | Here's an idea who's time has come. Move Lottery Sales into Dedicated Lottery Stores.
Like New York does with Off Track Betting.
Lets get these LOSER delusional gambling addicts out of our lines and into and into their own happy-go-stupid lotto-land.
How many hours of our lives are wasted, because we're stuck in line behind someone who's convinced their retirement plan is finally going to pay off this week?
It's fascinating to watch some who can't check their own oil, know how to fill out a pick6 card, figure the odds of a winning ticket left on a roll or be up to date on every money-sucking game the state turns loose.
With the odds of a pick6 being about the same as picking the correct INCH between DC and NYC, It's a near certainty that every one of these bozos are going to lose far more money then they'll ever win.
From time to time I'll wager the lotto-its $100 that they'll lose every dime they spend there. Oddly enough, none of them ever take me up on it. It's almost like they know...
If they want pay a nit-wit tax, that's fine by me. It makes up for the income taxes they don't pay at all. Just stop adding countless wasted hours to my life while they repeatedly pour over the same ticket choices they had 60 seconds ago.

| Re: Here's an idea who's time has come. Here is another idea I think should be implemented when it comes to state lotteries as well. Everyone should have to show photo id. In Tennessee there are bar codes on them. Personally, I think your photo id should have to be scanned to purchase any kind of lottery ticket. If your on ANY kind of government assistance, such as food stamps, welfare, and public housing to name a few, you should be barred from buying lottery tickets.
I caught hell a few days ago because of this. I was standing behind a woman at a gas station buying lottery tickets. When she opened her wallet I noticed she had the credit card they give to people for food stamps. I was pissed. I probably shouldn't have said out loud that "You can't afford food, so you have me pay for it via taxes, however you can spend $50 on lottery tickets, lady you need to get your priorities in line." If looks could kill, I wouldn't be typing this message right now. That lady got pissed and started shouting at me until she was out of the store. Sorry to rant like this, but people who get free food, free money and/or free or lowered rent from the government don't need to be spending any disposable cash on something that isn't a necessity for life, and is unbelievably a bad business decision.
Why is it people think there going to win when odds and statistics are way against them? What's the odds on powerball? 300 million to 1? Pick 4? 10,000 to 1. Pick 3? 1000 to 1. Hell, instant win tickets are in the 4-5 to 1 odds range. Your odds at a blackjack table are considerably higher. 52% to 48% in the house's favor. I guess this shows the financial stupidity of some people. Ok, let me get this straight. You can spend $100 on 100 1$ instant win tickets. Odds show your only going to win 20-25% of the time. The majority of the winning tickets are usually $10 or less, with more being the win of 1 free lottery ticket. So with your initial 'investment' of $100, odds are your going to take home less than $25. Does that sound like a good business deal? Of course it doesn't. Frankly, I've seen better financial acumen watching my dog swallow a quarter. In his case he was actually saving money, although I don't know if I want it back.

Personally, I don't believe the state should be involved in lotteries. Like you said, it's a sucker's game. The state is just raising money on the ignorant and those with gambling addictions.

| Really So Canada it trying to own the podium, global warming is in fact a myth because we have too much snow, and I learned a bunch of useless acronyms.
I think the world is ending... Canada is arrogant. Global warming used to have a connotation of unpredictable weather pattern e.g.droughts in some areas and not others (more complex of course)... but now we are so simple that "global warming" only means what we want it to. Finally, we have politically corrected everything.
All of this happened because we took Conan O'Brian off the air. Thank you NBC and Jay Leno.
